Workpaper
The documentation supporting a position in an engagement: the facts, the calculation and the authority behind it.
Tax term
It is what a reviewer checks and what an enquiry asks for. A figure without a workpaper trail cannot be defended two years later, when the guidance has been reissued and the preparer has moved on.
